Buying used products is often a great way to save money and get vintage items with a special luster you won’t find on the modern market. Getting a used car? A smart shopper can find excellent deals on autos with many years left in them. Buying used books? If the text is legible, the function is the same as if it were new. Picking up a used fountain pen? The best pens only get better with age!
And getting a used furnace? Yes, that’s a …
No. Don’t. Don’t even consider it. Stop reading. Clicking on the CONTINUE READING button below will just waste your valuable time. There’s a REPLACE button at the top of this screen. And a phone number ((818) 446-2099). Click or call, set up an appointment, and we’ll get you the right furnace. Thanks for stopping by—we’re glad to be your choice for furnace replacement and furnace repair in Studio City, CA.

So … you clicked CONTINUE READING anyway. We understand, it’s good to be curious. So while you wait for us to come to help you replace your furnace with a new one, here are the reasons that no HVAC professional recommends customers purchase a used furnace.
It can be dangerous
Natural gas furnaces are the most common type, and that’s probably what you’re looking to purchase. Gas furnaces are designed with safety features to prevent the leaking of toxic gases and combustion hazards. An older furnace that hasn’t been well-maintained will have a higher chance of becoming unsafe. You won’t know how well it was taken care of, and the furnace will already have a head start on getting too old to be safe.
It won’t be under warranty
You don’t need to worry about warranties for used books, furniture, fountain pens, typewriters, or silverware. With a used furnace, you do. Even if the furnace is still not out of warranty, it will be if it’s sold used. You have no protection for repairs, no parts and service are covered. When you get a new furnace, you’ll start with at least a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty.
It will have too many costly repairs
Adding onto the issue of having no warranty is that a used furnace will need more repairs—and you have to pay for every single one of them. Any amount you may have saved by purchasing a used unit will vanish when you begin to shell out for repairs.
You don’t have any idea what you’re getting
There are too many unknowns involved in purchasing a used furnace. You don’t know how much it’s been used (there is no “odometer” for furnaces). You don’t know its maintenance history. You have no idea if some patchwork repair was done on it to keep it going. In short, you have no guarantee of a furnace that will work (and work safely) for any extended period of time. It’s not a risk worth taking.
A new furnace is a great investment when you work with our professionals. We’ll ensure you get the longest and most efficient service life from your new furnace.
